A candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 45% aggregate marks. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in May 2026 are also eligible to apply to the Institute. However, they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.
The candidate must appear in the Common Law Admission Test – 2026 (CLAT26).

The Undergraduate Programmes B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com., LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. (One Year) at the Institute are approved and recognised by Bar Council of India (BCI).

A total of 360 seats are available for admission. Out of this 15% of the intake is likely to be filled in under the NRI/NRI Sponsored category as per the Rules of the Government of Gujarat. Over and above the NRI/NRI Sponsored Category, 15% of supernumerary seats will be for FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA as per UGC Rules.

There are three categories under which the students at the Institute are offered admission.
  • General Category – 85% = 306
  • NRI/ (or NRI Sponsored) Category – 15% of total intake (360) = 54

  1. Non-Resident Indian (NRI):
    • Students who have studied and passed the qualifying examinations from schools or colleges in foreign countries
    • The students studying in schools or colleges situated in foreign countries, even if affiliated with the Board of Secondary Education or universities located in India.
  2. Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Sponsored – Students who are supported (financially) by an NRI who is working abroad.

  • Passport of Self / Parent / NRI / NRI sponsored (As applicable)
  • NOTARIZED AFFIDAVIT: For NRI self-declaration on Affidavit proving the NRI Status and for NRI Sponsored, Notarized affidavit from Sponsoring person.

Documents required for admission for the International Students:
  • Visa: All students holding foreign national passports (except OCI) will require a student visa endorsed to the respective Institution under the Nirma University to join a full-time course. The visa should be valid for the prescribed duration of the course.
  • Eligibility Qualifications: The qualifications required for eligibility for admission to different courses can be checked in detail from the prospectus. Only those students who have qualified from foreign Universities or Boards of Higher Education, recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are eligible for admission,
  • Proficiency Test in English: An international student who has been granted admission to any of the courses after passing the qualifying examination from a statutory Board or University outside India may have to appear at the Proficiency Test in English conducted by the Institution. International students who have passed the qualifying examination in the English medium may be exempted from this test, The student will have to undergo the medical examination and get the Medical Fitness Certificate. As per government rules, all international students entering India on student visas have to be tested for HIV and will not be given admission if found to be positive, Students holding foreign national passports (except OCI) will have to, within one week of arrival in India, register their names with the police in the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the local Police.

The student will have to produce all original documents for verification at the time of final admission. In addition, the students will have to pay the tuition and other fees as prescribed by the University from time to time including a one-time non-refundable International Students’ Processing Fee of 30,000/-.

  • Admission to the Five-Year Integrated Programmes for the same academic year shall be based on the inter se All India merit rank of CLAT26.
  • The candidates are compulsorily required to appear in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT26).
  • Candidates are also required to fill in the Institute of Law, Nirma University application form in addition to the CLAT26 form.
  • Admission under the NRI/NRI Sponsored Category will also be considered only based on CLAT26 score whereas CLAT is not mandatory for Genuine NRI/FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA categories. However, preference is given to CLAT26.

Admission under General/NRI Sponsored Category will be considered on the basis of CLAT-2026 whereas for genuine NRI, no qualifying exam is required. However, preference is given to CLAT-2026.

A candidate should have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate Examinations (10+2) or its equivalent examinations with not less than 45% aggregate marks.

In view of the Bar Council of India, Legal Education Rules - 2008, University Grants Commission Act and Regulations, and decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the applicants who have obtained their 10 +2 (higher secondary) pass certificate after pursuing studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the five years integrated programme.

As per the Bar Council of India, Legal Education Rules – 2008, the applicants who have obtained 10+2 through the open universities system directly *without having any basic qualifications* *for prosecuting such studies* are not eligible for admission in the integrated five-year programme.

Is a student passed +2 (HSC/Intermediate) through distance or correspondence method eligible for admission at the Institute?

In view of the Bar Council of India, Legal Education Rules -2008, University Grants Commission Act and Regulations, decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the applicants who have obtained +2 higher secondary pass certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the five year integrated programme.

Merit is prepared considering the inter se all India Rank of CLAT26.

It will be displayed on the Website of the Institute https://law.nirmauni.ac.in and the applicant can check by Logging into the Admission Portal using the registered email ID and credentials received at the time of application.

There is only one mode of application to apply to the Institute i.e., through ONLINE Mode on the Institute website https://law.nirmauni.ac.in.

A candidate interested in seeking admission to ILNU has to fill ILNU application form, in addition to the CLAT 2026 form.
  • Candidates can fill out the online application form at https://law.nirmauni.ac.in and submit the same online. Candidates are required to make an online payment of Rs. 2500/- for the General Category and Rs. 2500/- if applying under the NRI/NRI Sponsored categories by Credit Card/Debit Card or Net Banking.
  • Candidates applying under NRI/NRI Sponsored Quota will not be considered for General Category merit. If you wish to apply for General Category a separate application form alongwith application fee is required to be filled.

  • The candidate has to submit the Mark sheet of Matriculation for the DOB proof.
  • For B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) / B. Com., LL.B. (Hons) / B.B.A., LL.B.(Hons): Migration Certificate is required ONLY for the candidate who have passed their qualifying examination from a board other than Gujarat Board.
