The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) emphasizes on internationalization of higher education and global exposure. In line with the NEP and UGC guidelines, the Bachelors of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (with exit option to earn PhamD degree from the US) is offered by the Institute of International Study, Nirma University.
The students enrolled in BS (Pharmaceutical Science, with an exit option to earn PharmD degree from the US) study at Institute of International Study, Nirma University for the first two years.
After completing the first two years, the students will have an exit option for consideration of admission to:

  • State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY Binghamton), New York, US
  • University of Cincinnati, Ohio, US

The students enrolled in BS (Pharmaceutical Science, with an exit option to earn PharmD degree from the US) study at Institute of International Study, Nirma University for the first two years.

After completing the first two years, the students will have an exit option for consideration of admission to:

  • State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY Binghamton), New York, US
  • University of Cincinnati, Ohio, US

as per their rules and regulations. If the students are admitted at the US university, they will transfer into their professional phase of the PharmD programme for the next four years. The State University of New York at Binghamton and the University of Cincinnati are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and awards PharmD degree to students who fulfil the programme requirements after six years of study (2+4) in total. Nirma University will also award such students an Undergraduate Diploma as per their rules and regulations. The students who opt to continue at Institute of International Study, Nirma University after the first two years or the students who do not get the US Visa / admission in PharmD programme will continue with the BS programme and will be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree by Nirma University as per their rules and regulations.

The applicant must have passed the HSC 12th standard exam or an equivalent exam as approved by Nirma University with mandatory subjects as physics, chemistry, and either mathematics or biology; and a minimum of 60% aggregate.
The admission is based on the merit decided by the theory portion marks of the three subjects physics, chemistry and mathematics / biology and interview.

The fees must be paid in Indian Rupees (INR) only, as per the exchange rate specified in the offer letter at the time of admission.

The fee structure for the third and fourth years will be as per the norms of the partner universities in the US or Canada.

Scholarships are not available during the study period at Nirma University. However, students may be eligible for scholarships from the foreign partner university for the third and fourth years, based on academic credentials and merit.

In the US there is no degree called BTech or BE. They have BS or BA. Their BS in Computer Science or BS in Mechanical Engineering is equivalent to ours BTech in Computer Science or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
The main difference lies in the curriculum structure. A B.Tech degree in India focuses more on core technical and engineering subjects, while a BS degree in the US includes a balanced mix of major-specific courses along with liberal arts and science subjects, aimed at developing broader skills like critical thinking and communication. Despite these differences, both degrees are well-recognized and equally accepted by industries worldwide.

Yes. Pursuing studies abroad is mandatory after completing the first two years at Nirma University. However, in the event of a visa or admission rejection, students may be permitted to complete the third and fourth years at Nirma University.

Yes. Students must transfer only to universities that have formal collaborations with Nirma University for this programme. These partnerships with prestigious public and private foreign universities ensure quality education and seamless credit transfer.

Upon successful completion of the full four-year (2+2) programme, students will be awarded two full-time Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees — one from Nirma University and one from the partnered foreign university.

Students are responsible for preparing for any required competitive examinations independently. For visa applications, the university has authorized agents who can assist with the process for an additional service fee. Students may also choose to apply for the visa independently or through any external agency of their choice.

The selection criteria for transferring to a foreign university in the third year are based on the student’s cumulative GPA from the first two years of study, high school academic performance, and participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
